Whoopsie!

I’ve been a bad blogger.

Last Tuesday night was officially the night from hell. Seriously.

For the most part, Vivien is on a fairly consistent schedule during the day. She takes one long nap, going down around 12:30pm or so. I texted my homie Heather at like 4:30 that day, so proud of Vivien’s 4 hour long nap. She woke up about 45 minutes after that, at 5ish, and I was so stoked because I was super productive during her nap time.

Fast-forward to around 10pm, she goes to bed for the night (that’s her normal time, and I like it because then she doesn’t wake up until 9am. It works for us.)

I download an embarrassing book on my Kindle (aka: so much smut it makes me blush and am glad it’s on my kindle so it a bit more discreet)

12:30am, I hear crying. I go into her bedroom to calm her down and rock her to sleep. She won’t have anything to do with going back to bed. Homegirl cried/played/stared at me while I was trying to rock her back to sleep until 5:30am. At that point, I walked into our bedroom and started crying (legit, I was tired) and Eli woke up and took her. She kind of fell back to sleep until 7am. Meaning, I got an hour and a half of sleep that night.

She didn’t really take a nap all day yesterday and I was a walking zombie. Thank goodness that my husband is a rockstar and that last night was my “free night” (which I plan to blog about later, awesome stolen idea from Kay. Thanks, chica!)

Having a newborn, you expect these behaviors. It’s completely different when it’s a non-napping 10 month old that you have to chase around the entire day after.

She’s lucky she’s cute.

  • Put her outside when she misbehaves. How else is she going to learn? ;-)

  • If it makes you feel any better, I’ve only had 2-3 solid nights of sleep since Landon was born. It ain’t easy being a momma. Sorry about your rough night!

Legit, I can hardly comprehend the horribleness of that night. I want to cry for you. I remember having two nights similar to that when Ben was a newborn – all the other nights were tolerable except those two – and they resulted in tears and unintelligible complaining.

And the next day?! That’s the worst. I would be able to handle the lack of sleep if Ben napped and/or was quiet and calm the next day. But that never, ever happens.

I suppose I should not be jealous of that 4-hour-nap anymore hahaha :)
