I wasn’t going to participate this week, but after finally getting some childhood pictures from my Mom’s house during my last vacation to Michigan, I couldn’t resist. Let’s get social!
1. What do you miss most about being a kid? Nothing. I was a miserable little child. True story. I am ashamed of my younger self.
2. Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it? My brother had one for me. Mind you, he’s 12 years older than me. He called me Roach. I was horribly afraid of them. My cousins called (and still do) me Nagem (it’s my name, backward. They aren’t very original.) My dad called me “Meg-ling” which has gotten shortened to “Ling” over the years.
3. What was your favorite thing to do at recess? Playing Gone with the Wind with Aaron S. What? That’s not normal 5th grade behavior?
4. What did you want to be when you grew up? A nurse. Doesn’t every little girl?
5. What was your favorite toy? I loved Barbies (see above picture) and my water babies. I had two of them, and they were twins.
6. What is the funniest thing you did as a kid that your parents still remind you about? You know how I mentioned I was a miserable child? Well, most of my “funny things” involved some sort of a temper tantrum of mine. Like the time I ruined the entire family picture by screaming because I didn’t want to sit on the piano bench. Or the “Trail of tears,” which is what my parents called the pathway from the dinner table into my bedroom. I would get mad and cry/scream/run from the dining room table to my bedroom, every single night, for some reason (typically it was my brother picking on me. When all else fails, blame him- sorry M!)
And, because I am an annoying little sister, I couldn’t help but post the following AMAZING picture. Let’s just say, the 80′s hit my sister hard. Bahhaha.
Rad hair, Christy. I love you!
Happy Sunday!

LOL!!! Hahahahahahaha!!!! I actually dreaded scrolling down…Great post and I am glad you are my sister despite the tantrums and the trail of tears!! Love you!
Hahaha OMG, I think it’s BEYOND hilarious that you were such an asshole as a child. Sorry. Is that rude? I was an asshole child too. And adult
At least you grew out of it hahahahahahaha!
Seriously – you? Being like that? I don’t believe it! I won’t.
And that baby picture of you?! You could have told me you threw a pic of V into picmonkey and made it look vintage, and I would have believed it.
Totally agree with Heather! V looks just like you as a baby. Spitting image! for sure!
Ha! you just described me to the T on that last question. It was fun reading you. I found you through the link up.
I absolutely love your childhood photos!
Is it wrong that it totally doesn’t surprise me that you were a douchebag kid? Maybe it’s cause I knew freshly-divorced hateful Megan for a while there. what was it you said? Oh yeah, I will NEVER EVER get married EVER AGAIN! I’m so glad you were wrong.
Haha Aww, you had twin water babies. I’m a twin, you could’ve had mine! I had a few different water babies, they always smelled like baby powder. Barbie has so much more stuff now than we did!
Had I seen Gone with the Wind by 5th grade, I totally would have been playing that. Instead I was the kid trying to get everyone to play The Sound of Music.
I teach 8 toddlers whose “trail of tears” routine sounds quite similar to your old bit! And Mrs. Megan you are SOOOO WRONG for posting that pic of your sis!! Good thing she has a great sense of humor abt it
LOL. Made. My. Day.
I do think most girls want to be a nurse when they grow up but most never become what they want to be as a child. I got lucky I wanted to be a nurse & I became just that. Some days I love & some days I hate it!
