Woop Woop! It’s Tuesday!
Here’s a little back story about yours truly. You know those nature loving people, that do activities such as hiking, or jogging, or camping? Well, I am not one of those people. In fact, I can pretty much say that, in general, I hate being outside. Of course, there is an exception. Just one:
I love the beach. The picture above is from the Oceanside pier. I also have a soft-spot for the Great Lakes beaches as well, and the river in Laughlin, Nevada.
But I’m not kidding, the beach is my only favorite outside activity.
I love the water.
However, need I remind you that, where I live, more accurately resembles this picture:
Therefor, my friends, I am resorting back to my original phrase, “I hate outside.”
It’s pretty to look at, don’t get me wrong, I am just not eager to do any outdoor activities.
Lately, however, it has become more evident that my child is modeling my lack-of-excitement for being outside. Honestly, you guys, she doesn’t like it. She much prefers indoor activities. When I take her outside, or when we go to the park, like we did yesterday, she just wants to be held.
I put her in the sandbox, and she looked at me like a crazy person and cried because her hands got dirty. We stomped in the leaves together, and she spent the entire stroller ride back home carefully picking the left-over leaves off her outfit with her pinscher fingers, one by one. We sat in the grass together, and she looked horrified and crawled into my lap. If I put her down, she immediately grabs my legs and urges me to pick her up.
I’m not making this stuff up!
I know that it’s partly because being outside and playing outside is still foreign to her, since she learned how to walk in the winter time, and there hasn’t been many weather-appropriate days to explore outside “fun.”
But I also can’t help but snicker over the fact that maybe, just maybe, she did inherit a trait from her Mommy, after all.

Girl, you crack me up! I am not a lover of the outdoors unless it involves water and most likely an alcoholic beverage… but I am a boy mom and therefor will need to get familiar REALLLL fast. I love that V is already a total girly girl!!
Mine is the opposite. Shrieks when I ask if she wants to go outside, cries when it’s time to come in. I like outside air. Its so fresh in my lungs. I was miserable all summer because i couldnt go outside for fear I would melt or sponateously combust. Different strokes for different folks.
Haha, how cuuute! My girl loves being outside, literally using her hands for claws and digging in the dirt (its a pain in the neck trying to get the dirt out from under those teeny tiny nails but…) whenever she is getting grumpy or whiny or antsy, out the door we go! Isn’t it funny how different babies can be? I dread summertime here because it makes me hibernate (too too hot!) but this year we’ll be doing mommy and me swim lessons so at least we’ll have some outdoor activity!

Hahahaha I’m not a huge outside person either. And Benjamin flipping LOVES being outside. Even if I take him down our driveway to get the mail, he’s in his glory – smiling as soon as I open the door. So my confession should really be that my child loves being outside and I don’t drag my lazy butt outside enough, to make him happy haha
That’s freaking adorable picturing V picking off all the leaves. So cute. She’s my kind of girl.
