I already told you about my photoshoot from hell as well as the first part of our exciting Saturday. Now that it’s almost the weekend yet again, I thought I’d finish up my recap of last weekend, because that’s how I roll. Aren’t you glad that we normally live a painfully boring life on the weekends, consisting of Eli doing homework and me catching up on housework that I let slip through the cracks of a busy work week?
We are fortunate to live in a gorgeous city. We live in an outskirt of Denver, with downtown being about 15 miles or so away from us. Vivien and I regularly go to the zoo, which is “in the city” but that’s about the extent of it for the most part. When my best friend was here visiting a few weeks ago, we went to the 16th Street outdoor mall (where I am fairly positive I walked away with a contact high and heat exhaustion) but if left me yearning to see more of Denver itself.
I’m a city girl to the core. I love being in the bustle of downtown, people watching, and exploring different cultural experiences. It’s why I have the ultimate love affair with New York City.
Tucked away in a section of Denver hides Washington Park (though the locals refer to it at “Wash Park.”)
We were only able to experience a tiny section of the park, but it is stunning. It has two huge lakes (people were paddle boarding!) and a massive garden. Since I was there for a specific reason to use the garden as a backdrop, we spent our time in there. Enjoy some of these pictures I was able to capture of Vivien. She had a blast running around the park, and smelling and touching all the flowers.
If you’re ever in Denver and want to explore a bit more of the city and get in touch with nature a bit more, I highly suggest checking out Wash Park. There are beautiful paths to run alongside, or simply just take a stroll with your little one. Vivien loved seeing all the ducks in the pond, and there are even a few large playgrounds there as well. It’s also a gorgeous picturesque location- so don’t forget to pack your big girl camera!
