Three years ago today, I married a guy. We vowed to honor and love each other, protecting each other through rich or poor times. We tied our hands together to put a literal meaning to “tying the knot.”
We were older, wiser, a tad bit more jaded, but knew without a doubt that our hearts were in sync. He’s stood by my (crazy, hormonal, sometimes irrational) side since our first date in October, seven years ago. And on this day, when most people (ourselves included) are celebrating Halloween by going door to door with children begging for candy from strangers, we know that the day was once celebrated a bit differently. And a whole lot more meaningful.
Here’s to remembering one of my favorite days ever: trainwreck maid of honor speeches, best man speeches with dirty references, and starting a new chapter in our lives together.
Happy Anniversary, and Happy Halloween!
